Dear Ms. Allard:
Book Office UK and Book Office USA, agencies of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs whose goal is to promote French books in English-speaking countries, are working on a joint project involving the creation of a bibliographic database. This database will list all books (fiction and non-fiction) written in French by francophone writers and translated into English since 1990. The scope of the project covers not only the British and US editorial markets, but it also encompasses all English-speaking countries in which the translated works have been published or distributed.
This database will be accessible via our website Frenchbooknews.com.
The purpose of this letter is to enquire as to whether the Canadian Poetry Association has access to a list of titles written in French and translated into English since 1990. Whenever possible, the listing should include French Title; Author’s name; English Title; Translator’s name; ISBN number; and Series name if relevant. If you do not have access to such a list, could you please help me identify Canadian publishers who publish French-language works translated into English?
